I’ve been a member of photographers.com for over 10 years, and have now revived my profile (thanks Bob Greenberg for all your help!) Check it out. I also created a profile on their sister site photographerindex.com.
As I am learning more and more about SEO (search engine optimization) I read that page rank is an important number. It is the number that Google calculates to figure out where your site places on the web. My photography site currently has the following pagerank:
Yesterday and today I’m reading a lot about search engine optimization and site submissions. I’ve redesigned my site (really just a technical rewrite) to be more friendly towards search engines – although I am not a pro at this at all, I am a photographer. The website for me is not an end in and of itself, it is a tool in presenting work and connecting with clients. The easier I am to find in a relevant search, the better. I don’t want my site to come up when someone is looking to hire a photographer to shoot graduation photos. I do want to be on a good search result if someone searches for a Miami based fashion, life style, advertising or product photographer.
A friend of mine put told me about guru.com and I just found ifreelance.com. I have posted profiles on both of these sites (I found some others too, but they looked like there were for webdesigners and coders only). Check my profiles out, they are in the link section of this blog.
